Will of Hilliard Judge Harden




Georgia, Pike County
In the name of God Amen.

I, Hilliard Judge Harden, of the County of pike and the State of Georgia being of sound mind and also of a sound memory and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs while I have strength so to do do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking wills made at any time wheresoever made: and first I commend my soul to God who gave it and my body I desire to be buried in a decent and Christian like manner and my worldly estate I dispose as follows: Item 1- I desire that all my lawful debts be paid off and settled out of my perishable property and that my wife Mary Harden keep possession of the remaining perishables during her natural life and at her death it be sold and equally divided between my daughters Sarah Bankston and Susan Harris. Item 2- I give and bequeath to my wife Mary Harden during her natural life, the land upon which I now live being 100 acres more or less off of the NE corner of the lot and land #95 in the 8th district of original Monroe now Pike County and 120 acres more or less being a part of lot #98 in the 8th district of original Monroe now Pike County and at her death said lands I give and bequeath to my two daughters Airy Elizabeth Harden and Cynthia C. Cooper. Airy Elizabeth to have and own the north portion of the land lying north of Grisham Creek and Cynthia Cooper the south portion of the land south of the creek. Item 3-I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah V. Bankston 50 acres more or less, 30 acres off of lots #’s 93 and a portion of lot #’s 99 and 100 acres as described in the deeds in the 8th District of original Monroe now Pike County. Item 4-I give and bequeath to my daughter Margaret A. Jones 100 acres being the west half of lot #68 in the 8th district of original Monroe now Pike County. I give and bequeath to my son Washington P. Harden 50 acres of land being part of #129 in the 8th District of original Monroe now Pike County. Item 5-I give and bequeath to my son William Harden 50 acres in the County of Jasper of said State being the land bought of Mr. Oxford he paying $150 to James Williams of said District of Jasper. In witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this 18th day of May 1876.
