I am looking for information on a Benjamin Wylie Blount (born 1855)around the early to mid 1880's. He married Sarah Rice Nov. 2, 1884. He moved from the Molena area to Concordia Parish, Louisiana and changed his name to Walter clyde Blount. We are trying to find out why he changed is name. It is rumored he might have been running from the law.

elsha m. irvin joined csa from pike cty.ga.in 1861he married jerusha a. lesueur in 1861 while on leave from injury. he was injured 3 times. the last time he never recovered from leg injuries and was in hospital at time of ending of war. he did not die until 1885. i want very much to fiud where he was buried. if anyone has any info on this, would love to hear from you.

Martha KING married Brinkley Elbert RAINES/RAINS (my great grandparents) 17 Nov 1853 in Talbot County GA. Sometime after his death from measles at Savannah in 1863 she had her pension moved to Pike Co. Searching for information on HUGH and RHODY HAMIL. They were in the 1850 Pike Co., GA census. Then their estate settlements are found in court records in Spalding Co., GA upon HUGH HAMIL's death in 1855 and RHODA HAMIL's death in 1859. Therefore I assume that in 1850 they were living in the portion on Pike Co. that became Spalding Co. in 1852. In the 1850 census they were in District 68. Can anyone help me to determine the location of District 68 in Pike Co. and then in what part of Spalding Co. it was after 1852? Thanks for any help.

I would like any information on Jessie KIRK b.1762 d.1823 in Zebulon, GA. He was the son of Stephen KIRK an IRISH immagrant that had come to the US in @1762 and entered in Philadelphia PA with his brother. Stephen KIRK is on the HOH Census' in Chester County SC for 1800,1810,& 1820. No idea how or why Jessie came to PIKE County-maybe during the land lottery? I am looking for the first name of the wife of Jesse KIRK, he was born in 1762 and was the son of Stephen KIRK of Chester County SC. I don not know when Jesse Kirk came to pike coounty. The only thing I do know is tha the died in 1834 in Zebulon,GA in PIKE county. His wifes last name is DANIEL and they had at least one son named John Jackson KIRK that was born in 1815 and lived in JASPER and HARALSON counties. He married Elizabeth HUTCHESON b.1823 d.1865, wife 2 was Rebecca Hannah BROOKS. There is no info on her either. They are accountable in Haralson County GA 1860 census.

I am researching the Reeves family of Pike Co., GA. My great-great-grandfather was John Clay Reeves who married Catherine Johnson in Pike Co., GA, in 1865. He was born in 1842 and died in 1911 in Polk Co., GA. Catherine was born in 1835 and died in 1910. John Clay was son of Elisha Reeves and Rebecca Mitchell. Catherine's parents are unknown, but family tradition holds that her father was born in Wales, jumped ship in America, and changed his name from Hayes to Johnson to escape prosecution by the Royal British Navy, of which he was then a member. John Clay and Catherine were in Sumter Co., GA, in 1870; Fulton Co., GA, in 1880; Troup Co., GA, by about 1882; and moved to Polk Co., GA, in the early 1900s. They had five children. I am seeking information on John Henry Hoyet Coates also listed as Henry H Coates and H H Coates Henry was born in SC in 1810 but was in Georgia from at least 1835. He married Matilda ? who was also born in SC in 1811. On Census Records he is listed as a Shoemaker and as a Grocer. He had the following children that I am aware of William J. b 1835 Frances b. 1838 John H. b 1839 Elizabeth Caroline b. 1844 George Washington b.1845. James William Marsh was born Jun. 14, 1822 in Jones County, Georgia. James married Lucinda H. Lynch in Monroe County, Georgia on April 10, 1845. James W. Marsh lived in Pike County, Georgia where he filed his pension application as a Confederate veteran on April 4, 1895. Does anyone know his date of death. Also, I need information on his wife; Lucinda H. Lynch and his children; William, John B., Sallie Lavonia, Henrietta, Spencer, and Lucinda Marsh.

Looking for the family of HARTFORD GREEN born ca 1815 and wife NANCY ELLIS born ca 1818 died before 1870 in county. Son LA FAYETTE GREEN born ca 1835. He was a lawyer in the county.
