AUTO CRASH INJURIES FATAL TO J. M. MEANS

Prominent Resident of Zebulon Is Third Victim of Opelika Accident J. M. Means, prominent Zebulon, (Ga.) Resident, died Monday night in an Opelika (Ala.) hospital of injuries received a week ago in an automobile accident which also claimed the life of his wife, and of L. A. Armistead, of 229 Cambridge avenue [sic], Decatur. Mrs. Means and Mr. Armistead were both almost instantly killed. The cars in which Mr. and Mrs. Means and Mr Armistead and several companions were riding collided head-on near Opelika a week ago when the drivers were blinded by rain. Mr. Means was president of the Zebulon Gin and Fertilizer Company and a member of a prominent Georgia family. He is survived by three sons, Spencer Means, of Atlanta, and J. M. Means Jr., and Howard Means, of Zebulon; two sisters, Mrs. F. R. Green and Mrs. H. G. Wells, of Atlanta; three nephews, J. W. Means, of the bond department of the First National Bank; Morris Means, who is connected with Norris and Hirschberg; Charley Means, who is associated with Maffey & Fair, and two nieces, Mrs. C. D. Bramlett and Miss Elizabeth Means, all of Atlanta. Funeral services for Mr. Means will be held today in Zebulon, where services were also held for Mrs. Means. The funeral of Mr. Armistead took place in Decatur.

Mr. J. M. Means died at the East Alabama Hospital here Monday afternoon as a result of an automobile accident. The funeral will be held from Zebulon Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lucy Howell, Zebulon, Ga.; Mrs. H. M. Marsden, New York; three sons, J. M. Means, Jr., Howard Means, Zebulon, and Spencer Means, Atlanta; two brothers, W. H. Means Meansville Ga.; J. C. Means Sycamore, Ga.; and three sisters, Mrs. J. R. Green, Mrs. H. T. Wells, Atlanta, and Mrs. J. K. Smith, Birmingham, Ala.

Smith, of Birmingham, Ala., are invited to attend the funeral of Mr. William Herman Means, tomorrow (Wednesday) morning, at 11 o'clock, from the Zebulon Methodist Church, Zebulon, Ga. Resolutions on Death of Mrs. Means

The following resolutions on the recent death of Mrs. Alice E. Means were presented from the Fifty-Fifty Club:

"Whereas, In His divine wisdom, our Heavenly Father has deemed it best to call from our midst our beloved comrade and friend, Mrs. Alice E. Means; and "Whereas, Though our hearts are heavy with grief and we feel our loss deeply, yet we bow in humble submission to His almighty will, knowing ‘That He doeth all things well,' "Therefore, Be it resolved:

"First -- That in the passing of Mrs. Means our club has lost a valued, greatly respected and highly prized member; that we shall miss her sunny presence, her cheerful smile, her wise counsel and her ever willingness to serve the club in any capacity.

"Second, That we shall strive in our daily lives to emulate her virtues, to ["____ase" -- 1 or 2 words faded out] our faith and to love and trust more fully each day the Saviour that she loved and trusted,

"Third, That we hereby express our deepest love and sympathy for the loved ones she left behind and that we assure her four fine sons that we shall always feel a deep interest in their welfare.

"Fourth -- That a copy of these resolutions shall be spread on a page of our minutes and that a copy shall be sent to the family and to each of the Atlanta newspapers."
