Horton-Hutchinson Cemetery

Transcribed by Sandra Ann (Horton) Brown; Contributed by Mary Jewell (Horton) Hall, permissions granted by all participants.

The Old Peyton F. Horton - Garfield Hutchison Homeplace is on Hutchinson Rd
-- it runs off Hwy 362 just below Williamson going toward Hollonville, the
home place is on the right. It's an old farm house and someone is living in
it today.

Peyton Flournoy Horton (Sr.) [ca 1818 > 1905] is supposed to be buried there
and possibly some of his 3 wives under the back porch concrete slab.

In an email from Mary Hall to Valerie Freeman:

My sister Sandra went back to the Horton-Hutchinson home
place today. She talked to the lady who lives there now.

She said that there was a movie filmed in the back of the
house called "Boycott" about Martin Luther King. She said
she watched it several times to see her house in it.

When you step off the concrete back porch there is a
gravestone. She said she was told that most of the other
graves must have been cemented over with the porch.

The name Annie Nell Hutchinson 1/13/1892 --4/8/1907 was
on it.

Sandra left there and went to the Bethany Christian
Church on Bethany Rd, established in 1879. In the cemetery
there she found one date - 1877. She found a grave stone
with the same name and dates as the one at the house of Annie
Nell Hutchinson.

Another one - Nolie Fine Glass 5/29/1892
M Hutchinson 2/24/1910 D 1/1/1923

There were 2 graves with concrete slabs covering them
with writing that looked like it was done with the fingers
about 6" tall.
      F E D Young
      Fany Young
No dates or anything else

She said there were a lot of Hutchinsons but no Hortons.
