Carolina.
Goodspeed Article McNairy County, Tennesse. The year of birth matches
with the 1850 census and it also gives North Caroilna as the birthplace.
John McIntyre married Margaret Day (1799-1844). She was from Gibson County,
Indiana. John's oldest son, William, often lists Kentucky as his birthplace. The
next sons born 1828-1833 most often list Indiana as their birthplace and the
youngest born 1836 lists Tennessee as his birthplace.
John McIntire is in McNairy County, Tennessee by 1840 and remains there until
his death in 1852. After his first wife died he married a young girl, Elda Horn,
daughter of Richard and Anna (Stiles) Horn. The Horn's were from
Onslow County, North Carolina. Two of John's sons married Elda's sisters.
The only clue I possibly have for John's mother is he named his only daughter,
Nancy Ann. His wife's mother was Anna so I am thinking there is a good
possibility Nancy is after his mother. His sons are named: William, Edward,
Lawson, Anthony, and Benony (sometimes listed as Benjamin) by first wife and
John Thomas by second wife.
McIntyre is spelled many ways and is a fairly common name in the Lincoln/Tryon
area of North Carolina. I haven't found any records so far as to who
John's parents could be.
Suggestions, please.
Thanks
