Hello Southern Listers,

As promised, here is my brick wall.

Rial Green Brown was born 21 Oct 1835 in AL (probably in Perry or Pike Co), d 23 Jul 1924 in Sabine Parish LA; married Martha Ann (or Arlene) "Matttie" Russell on 3 Dec 1858 in Perry Co, AL., she was b 25 May 1836 in Perry Co, AL, d 29 Mar 1910 in Sabine Parish, LA.

Now wallbash.gif - we THINK his father was John Brown b abt 1795, possibly in NC and married to Elizabeth A. Nichols, b est 1813 possibly in SC. I have not been able to find out anything else about this 'John Brown' or Betsey Nichols. I have data on most of Rial's descendents down to my grandmother Elma Pearl Brown that married Tildon Sloan Ponder.

Mattie's parents were Russell & Barton, gp were Russell, Parker, Barton and Tubb.

The other ancesters for Elma Pearl Brown were Carter, Irby and Rainer (all from the South).

Does any of this ring a bell?

*My Roberts line (beginning with Thomas) came through Lunenburg, Mecklenburg, and Cabell Counties VA to Hardin Co TN then TX.
*My Ponder line (beginning with Daniel) came from Augusta Co VA, to Hickman Co TN, to MS (Franklin, Simpson and Rankin Co.), to Sabine Parish LA.
*My Gamble line (beginning with Robert "John") came from Ireland to Jefferson Co GA, to Henry Co AL, to Navarro & Kaufman Co TX. John married into the Lawson line and someone has them back to 1200 and that is on the internet already.

I have a lot of data on these three lines and am not ready to start researching them in Europe but will do that one day "when I have time!"

If I can help you with any of these lines please let me know and I will be happy to share. If there is anything you can tell me about the Brown's I would really appreciate it..

Thanks Steph

Don't know how I managed to miss that census - I must have a drawer full but not that one. Now if only we can find the names of John's parents and go back another generation.

Thanks again.
