I'm taking a short break from my family and trying to help my M-I-L and her sister.

They are working on the Hodges. Here's what I have:

Tennessee Hodges b. about 1858 in Arkansas m) James Alexander Sooter 23 Sept 1875 in McDonald county, MO d) 3 July 1935 McDonald county, MO (her's is one of those death certs not scanned yet).

She is the daughter of William and AbaJane Hodges (b1816 Tenn and 1822 Tenn respectively).

I have found her on the following censuses:

1860 Black River Township, Independence, Arkansas Tennessee Hodges 2 F Ark
1880 McMillian, McDonald, Missouri Tennessee Suiter 21 F Ark MO Ar
1900 Buffallo, McDonald, Missouri L.S. Sooter Mar 1859 41 F m25 Mo Mo Mo
1910 Buffallo, McDonald, Missouri T.S. Sarter wife 51 Ar Tn Tn
1920 Buffallo, McDonald, Missouri Tennessee Sooter 60 Ar Tn Tn
1930 McMillian, McDonald, Missouri Tennessee Sooter 71 Ar TN TN

I have heard a few stories about the Hodges. One of which is that William Hodges was "a religious" man. They say that he would pray, loud enough that everyone around could hear, three times a day.
I was also told that when Tennie and James married the community got together and built them a house so when the came back after their honeymoon, they had their own home.

If anyone else is searching this line, lets talk.

This is a picture of Tennie and her husband James A Sooter. Don't know when it was taken but would guess in the late 1800's.
