Descendants of J. Moses Morrison
Generation 1
1 . J Moses Morrison was born in 1793 in North Carolina and died in Whitwell, Marion County Tennessee. He married Elizabeth Wise September 08, 1823 in Lincoln Co NC. he later married Rebecca Sarah Shaddrick in about 1824 in Bledsoe Co. Tn She was born in about 1810. Yep she was only 13 years old.

Moses married Elizabeth in NC in 1823. They had a daughter they named Elizabeth. The wife Elizabeth died not long after giving birth to Elizabeth, during his period of mourning Moses had another daughter by Elizabeth's sister they named her Millie. Moses left his daughters to their grandpapie Fredrick Wise Of NC.
Elizabeth Morrison came to TN where Moses was living and married Joseph Spangler. they had a daughter they named Nancy, she had a child out of wedlock that she named Maggie Spangler because she refused to give the name of the father. Later on Maggie married a Dan Copeland, they lived with Joseph , Elizabeth and Nancy. Joseph was a very rough and mean man especially when he had been drinking, one night he came in from working in the mines and Nancy did not have dinner ready and he started to beat on Nancy. Dan tried to stop it an Joseph acted like he was going to hit Dan on the head with a rock, Dan hit him in the head with a rifle and " accidentally" killed him. Dan spent 7 years of a 20 year sentence for murder in prison. he got out on good behavior.
Maggie and Dan got a divorce and Dan remarried shortly. Maggie would go down the holler and visit with Dan and his new wife and when bed time came Maggie would say " Well Dan who is you gonna sleep with tonight? Me or Poisey? He would say you too take the big bed I'll bed down with the kids.
Gennie Barrick said about the Wise family that they were Pennsylvania Dutch ( Black Dutch) and they were all very dark.
Mrs. Shirley Hoffman in the history room at the Rowan Public Library looked up the marriages in the microfiche, NC Marriage Bonds:

Bondsmen: Henry Wise and Isaac Holman ( Henry could be father or brother to Elizabeth)
witnesses: Peter Hoyle, Abraham harner ( In Anson County NC deed abstract & estates I found Peter hoyle pg 145 Wills & Estates pg 325)
1790 census Pg 169 Mecklinburg Co NC Wm. Morrison ,William Wise and John Wise
The election in Sequatchie co Tn was help on March 1858 for the purpose of electing various county and district officers. Twelve justice of the peace were also elected.
Justices elected on April 17 1858 all except SD Thurman, Edwin Newby and John Idum took oath the same day.
GW Nichols, Joel Austin, MB Narrimore, William B Elliot, John C lockhart, William E Kell, J Moses Morrison, IC Ricketts, AH Lockhart, ES Owings and IN Clark all gave bonds under small offences law.
J Moses is buried at Cheekville Cemetery, Whitwell, Marion Co Tennessee
Rebecca Sarah Shaddrick is buried beside him.
