my wish is to learn what happened to most of George's children, and where he and his first wife are buried.
Georg Haus aka George House was b. abt Oct 1833-38 in Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, son of Johannes Haus of Pennsylvania and Anna Maria Heckendorn of Lancaster Co., PA. he married in Waterloo to Catherine Shafer. they had 6 daughters, all born in Waterloo, before they joined the many who followed the siren call of free land in Kansas. they settled in Center, then Gale, then McPherson, then Marion twp. no-one in the family shows up in the 1905 state census.
George House abt __ Oct 1838-1900-1905
Catherine Shafer abt 1842-abt 1886
Mary abt 1865-
Louise abt 1867-
Elizabeth abt 1869-
Angeline 30 Nov 1871-aft 1885
Catherine abt 1873-
Susanne 25 Oct 1876-28 Nov 1957
Eli 4 Jun 1881-__ May 1972
Jacob/George Jacob 10 Oct 1883-9 Dec 1940
Catherine died and George remarried a Mrs Lucinda (William) McKibben who, after George's death, married Ogden Graves.
Eliza b. __ Aug 1887-
Charles Franklin __ Feb 1892-
Lois 12 Feb 1897-12 Dec 1899 tragically of burns from a boiling pot (always turn your pot and pan handles in towards the center of the stove when you have little ones around)
so what happened to the girls? did they marry or die young? where are the family buried? I only know that Jacob/George Jacob left for California. Catherine and Susannah also removed to California, but I haven't found where they were buried.
this is part of my husband's maternal line. we don't have them very far back, but it is easier for me to research them in Ontario than it is to research them in Kansas.
