I would just like to thank my mother for reminding me today that the Dr has diagnosed me with something that used to be called Erysipelas - An acute, febrile, infectious disease, caused by a specific group of streptococcus bacterium and characterized by a diffusely spreading, deep-red inflammation of the skin or mucous membranes causing a rash with a well-defined margin; Contagious skin disease, due to infection of the blood with vesicular bulbous lesions. Synonyms: Rose, Saint Anthony's Fire.

My 3rd great grandfather died of it at Camp Douglas during the civil war laugh.gif I REALLY needed to hear that today, considering I have the same thing, which today is called Cellulitis and is still life threatening if not treated with anti biotics (although my form is not contagious at all, there are a few different forms of it now, caused by either strep or staph)

I just thought I would share the laugh I got when I emailed mama to tell her what the dr said and her first words were....Gee how nice to know you have the same thing that killed Logan Inman.

hehehehe actually the laugh did me good, I think its scared my hubby though!!

I hope you feel better soon.

I have this limb of a tree that I can not link up but know they are related. Well, one of the aunts in this line died of choking on pennies.......lol Go figure smile.gif

Sorry dear...it just sort of popped out. You sent the definition of the problem and way down in the article it said erysipelas.....and that just sort of jumped out. The first time I had ever heard the word was in conjunction with Logan Inman's death at Camp Douglas. At the time I wondered what the heck that was....and you so kindly looked it up and informed me.
Now I am all for understanding our families and the culture they lived in....but I do think this is carrying research a bit too far...

lol well you know me, when I do something I try to do it to the fullest hehehe I CAN say, that after having this twice in two months, it certainly makes you WISH you were dead. Its extremely painful, on that silly little pain scale thing they have at hospitals, you know the 1-10 with the smiley to pained faces...this is def a 15....I've rather go thru childbirth again.

I cant imagine having to deal with this in the filthy conditions that were rampant at Camp Douglas (according to the Documentary I saw on it) and being surrounded by people that didnt give a damn. I dont know what I'd do without a husband like Dave who wont let me get up except to visit the "facilities" hehehehe
