Hi,
My g-great grandfather was Clemant Philips, born 1802 in Anson county, N.C. He was listed as a shoemaker on the 1850 Chesterfield S.C. census. His children included Pleasant L. Phillips, Malachi Watts Phillips, Elisha L. Phillips, Calvin D. Phillips, James Phillips, Frances Ann, Elizabeth, Jemima Minerva, and Sarah Phillips. All of the children moved to Tallapoosa Alabama and Jackson Parish Louisiana during the 1850's, but Clemant died in Anson county in 1872. Clemant's wife was the daughter of Pleasant Little, also of Anson county. I believe, but have no proof, that Clemant is related to the Reuben Philips that married Elizabeth Watts who was the daughter of Malachi Watts. I have hit a brick wall with this family, and any help would be appreciated.
