Johnnie Frank "Fran" Alston June 4, 1924- February 23, 2008 COLUMBUS, GA— Johnnie Frank ŇFranÓ Alston, 83, of Columbus, GA died at VistaCare Center at Franciscan Woods Saturday, February 23, 2008. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 with Reverend Tommy Mayton officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Macon Road. Active pallbearers will be Scott McDaniel, Jimmy McCollum, Rick Lingo, Drew Lingo, Harold Maloof, Jr., Hal Sands, Dwight Barker and James Barker. Burial will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from Noon until 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Alston was born June 4, 1924 in Waverly, AL daughter of the late Thomas Ryals and Estelle Crocker Ryals. She was a homemaker and member of Epworth United Methodist Church. Mrs. Alston was a dedicated care giver to her daughter, Brenda Goodwin Alston for many years. She will be remembered as a great cook and good neighbor who shared freely of her time and talents. Her hospitality, tender heart and loving spirit will be deeply cherished as fond memories by her family and friends. Mrs. Alston was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Alston and a sister, Grace McDaniel. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda Goodwin Alston of Columbus, GA; sister, Ethel Cannington; brother, Tom Ryals; numerous nieces and nephews, Faye C. Lingo and her husband, Dick, Gwen Braswell, Scott McDaniel and Dean Morillo and her husband, Fred; great nieces and nephews, Rick Lingo and his wife, Cynthia, Karen Barker and her husband, Dwight; great-great nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Drew, Trey, James, and Ashley; numerous friends.
